Ash joined the club as Head Coach in 2018. Originally from Sale, Victoria, Ash moved to Melbourne at the age of 17 to pursue a career in swimming. After training at Nunawading for two years Ash was offered a scholarship at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra. It was there that his swimming career took off by making his first Australian team in 2006 and representing the country at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. After 10 years on the Australian team, Ash retired from professional swimming in 2016. His plan was to pursue a career in coaching. Having great success as the Head Coach at Ivanhoe Neons, Ash took the club’s ranking from outside the top 20 in Victoria to within the top 5. He’s openly very excited to have joined the Northcote team of coaches and is excited to see what the future has in store for the Northcote Swimming Club. Having years of experience in the sport, Ash has a great passion for swimming and seeing people succeed. Ash’s values as a coach are to see children and all ages enjoying our great sport; to continue to educate and help athletes develop skills not only in the pool, but outside of the pool and to provide a level of coaching expertise to continue the rich legacy of swimming in Australia.
