New Head Coach

The Committee and I are thrilled to announce the appointment of Ashley Delaney to the role of Head Coach at Northcote YMCA Swimming Club.  Ashley was previously Head Coach at Ivanhoe Neons Swimming Club and has been looking for an opportunity to lead a club that, in his words, "has the promise to be one of the best clubs in Australia".

Ash possesses an undeniable passion for the sport of swimming at all levels and for the last 10 years has been a member of the Australian Swim Team.  Ash represented Australia at the Beijing Olympics, four Long Course World Championships, two Short Course World Championships, the Delhi Commonwealth Games and two Pan Pacific Championships.  Ash has an impressive record of success as a swimmer and a collection of medals to show it.  He has held a number of Australian backstroke records, and has applied his 10 years’ experience competing in a high performance environment, to develop his leadership, motivation and communication skills.

Ash states that as a young swimmer he was not the most talented. He had to work hard building his knowledge and skills across all areas to achieve his results. He is now looking forward to working with Northcote swimmers at all levels of skill and competition, and with our coaches, to help us continue to build our club to achieve both our performance and participation objectives.

Ash has commenced with us in a casual capacity and will join us fulltime around mid December.

We hope you’ll join us in making Ash feel welcome at Northcote.
